A Dutch invention, born between hardcore and trance. Its signature is two things: a long kick shaped until it turns melodic, and the "reverse bass", played off the beat to give that rocking, see-saw feel. The style lives at very large scale, the Netherlands and Belgium give it whole festivals and arenas, with pyrotechnic staging that is part of the genre itself.

Hardstyle may be the most codified electronic style: a near-fixed tempo around 150, an announced structure, and a visual vocabulary (fire, lasers, yearly anthems) that belongs to the track as much as the sound does. Every major Dutch festival commissions its anthem, played at the opening and sung back by the whole field.

It is also the style that lives furthest from the club: its dates are whole weekends in open fields or arenas seating tens of thousands, first in the Netherlands and Belgium, with regular dates in Germany, France and Italy.

Krowdexx are an Italian hardstyle duo formed by Giulio Destefanis and Simone Calvino, from Alba in Piedmont. Their first track, "Y.A.T.", came out in late 2015 on the Dutch label X-RAW Records; they went on to release on Gearbox Digital and Scantraxx.

Da Tweekaz

Da Tweekaz are a Norwegian hardstyle duo made up of Kenth Kvien and Marcus Nordli, active since the late 2000s and based in Belgium since 2012 to be closer to the Benelux festival circuit. Their records come out on Dirty Workz, starting with the album Time 2 Shine in 2012. Alongside it they run the happy hardcore project Tweekacore and the trio The Elite with Coone and Hard Driver.

The Saints are a Dutch hard dance duo made up of Jules van de Sant and Rick de Deken. Jules left top-level sport in 2019 to pursue hardstyle. The duo debuted on the Intents Festival mainstage, on Defqon.1's BLUE stage and at Supremacy, where they premiered 'Legacy' with Noxiouz and Satirized.

D-Block & S-te-Fan are a Dutch hardstyle duo formed in late 2004 in The Hague by Diederik Bakker (D-Block) and Stefan den Daas (S-te-Fan). They wrote the official anthems for Qlimax in 2009 and Defqon.1 in 2020, and have released four albums, from "Music Made Addictz" (2009) to "Enter Your Mind" (2021). Their label, Scantraxx Evolutionz, is a sub-label of The Prophet's Scantraxx. Since 2015 they have also used the alias DBSTF for their big room productions.

Most often between 150–155 BPM. The kick sings, and the bass lands between the beats. A tempo is common practice, not a rule: the same DJ may open slower and finish well above it.
