Thirty years on the scene is still here, built around Dutch and French labels and festivals.

Hardcore is not after nuance: it pushes the kick into distortion, drives it past 180 and owns a deliberately brutal aesthetic. It is also one of the continent's most loyal scenes, a crowd that recognises itself, labels that last, and a vocabulary of its own (gabber, hakken, terror) nobody else uses.

The Netherlands remain its centre of gravity, with indoor-hall events that have been filling since the 1990s. France grew its own branch, frenchcore, faster still, with its own labels and festivals.

Angerfist, real name Danny Masseling, born 20 June 1981 in Almere, is a Dutch hardcore producer and DJ. He released his first EP, Criminally Insane, in 2002, followed by his first album, Pissin' Razorbladez, in 2006. He performs behind a white hockey mask, joined on stage by MC Prozac since 2006.

His trademark is heavy rhythm work, acid textures and immersive pads, heard on tracks such as "Darkness". He works regularly with Felckin, Venom, Teksa and D-Frek, and releases on labels including Omny Lab, Acid Pirate and Underground Tekno.

Born in 1998 in La Gacilly, Brittany, Thaïs Morel DJs as Hysta, playing mainstream hardcore rooted in the Breton free-party scene where she started out on vinyl at sixteen. She has released on Masters of Hardcore, The Third Movement and Q-dance Music, and in 2023 became the first French female DJ to play Thunderdome's main stage. In September 2025 she performed a one-hour hardcore set on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower.
