The story

FuturFestival was born in Turin in December 2009, celebrating the centenary of Futurism with a New Year's Eve party. The following year it produced the official New Year's Eve party for Turin, European Youth Capital, with Groove Armada and Juliette Lewis, and in 2011 it presented the Italian exclusive of The Bloody Beetroots, with Tommy Lee on drums. Behind it stands the Turin company Movement Entertainment, alongside the Associazione Suoni e Colori.

In 2012 the formula changed completely: a daytime, open-air electronic festival, named after the Turin clothing brand Kappa. The first edition took place on 30 June and 1 July at Parco Dora, with Carl Cox, Deadmau5 and John Digweed. The park, opened in 2011 on the former sites of Ferriere Fiat and Michelin, kept the roof of the Vitali steelworks hall and its red steel pillars: the main stage still plays beneath it.

Growth followed a steady curve. A fourth stage arrived in 2018, the year of 50,000 attendees, 35% of them from abroad; in 2019, 60,000 people from 102 countries and the award for best international festival at the DJ Awards. Cancelled in 2020 and 2021, the festival returned in 2022 over three days, with 85,000 attendees. In 2023, for its tenth edition, it added a fifth stage and a night programme in the city's clubs, and the organisers reported 100,000 attendees from 118 countries.

Records have followed one another since: 115,000 attendees from 157 countries in 2024, more than 120,000 in 2025, then 125,000 people from 152 countries for the thirteenth edition, from 3 to 5 July 2026, with more than 130 artists on six stages. DJ Mag readers ranked it the world's 7th festival in 2024 and 6th in 2025, the only Italian event in the top 40. In November 2026 the brand leaves Italy for the first time, at Parque Fundidora in Monterrey, Mexico.

VIP Lounge et terrasses

The music

Kappa FuturFestival books techno and house above all, in all their forms: Berlin and Belgian techno, Chicago and New York house, tech house, electro, with room for bass music and drum and bass. Electronic live acts have their slot too, from Max Cooper's audiovisual live set to Carl Craig joined by Mike Banks in 2026. Days begin at noon and end at midnight, then the music carries on in Turin's clubs at the official after-parties.

The bill mixes headliners and back-to-back pairings. In 2026, Charlotte de Witte, Amelie Lens, Sven Väth and Peggy Gou closed the Sunday; Saturday brought together Four Tet and Skrillex, Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann, Richie Hawtin and Maceo Plex; Friday had Solomun, Disclosure and a trio of Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati and Seth Troxler. Earlier editions hosted Carl Cox, Deadmau5, Nina Kraviz, Swedish House Mafia, Tiësto and Anyma. The 2027 line-up has not been announced.
