Apparat is the stage name of Sascha Ring, a German electronic musician born on 27 June 1978 in Quedlinburg. Formerly co-owner of the Shitkatapult label, he started out with dancefloor-oriented techno before shifting towards ambient work, more interested in designing sounds than beats. He also records as Moderat together with Modeselektor.
