The festival was born in 1989 in Dour, a Hainaut municipality near Mons, set up by Carlo Di Antonio and Marc de Fays. Until 1993 it had a single stage; 1994 brought the first campsite and three stages for 32 bands, then in 1996 an electronic stage run with Fuse, the Brussels club.
The crowds followed: the festival passed 100,000 festivalgoers in 2002, sold out for the first time in 2005, and in January 2010 won Best Medium-Sized Festival at the European Festival Awards. With Mons 2015, European Capital of Culture, it moved to five days, and in 2019 it reached 251,000 participants, its record.
Cancelled in 2020 and 2021 by the pandemic, Dour returned in 2022 on a site enlarged from 120 to 170 hectares, among the fields and wind turbines between Dour and Quiévrain. Since 2023 camping is no longer included in the pass; it has branched out into themed campsites, from Dour les Bains to The Ranch, opened in 2026.
The 36th edition, from 15 to 19 July 2026, drew 218,840 people according to the police, some 220,000 according to the organisers. The same year Live Nation sold its stake: the company is now split equally between founder Carlo Di Antonio and other shareholders, including the French group Rivaj. The 2027 edition is announced for 7 to 11 July.

De Balzaal
The big tent the festival calls its electronic cathedral, devoted to techno and house. It opened in 2011 for dubstep and drum & bass.
Boombox
The stage for urban cultures, hip-hop, rap, trap, grime and R&B, which turns into an electronic stage at night, until the early hours.
La PMP
La Petite Maison dans la Prairie, the tent for pop and now alternative rock, heir to the Garage and the Cannibal Stage. At night it switches to electronic music.
Dub Corner
The historic home of reggae, dub and sound system culture, an institution of the festival.
The Village
The village of ready-pitched lodging, bell tents, Tip Ups, huts and Festihuts, with bars, food stalls and toilets, next to the Regular Camping.
The music
Dour is a multi-genre festival with a large share of electronic music: techno and house under De Balzaal, electronic sets at night at Boombox and the PMP, rap and hip-hop at Boombox, rock and pop at the PMP, reggae and dub at the Dub Corner, headliners of every style on The Last Arena. Since 2026 L'Atelier hosts emerging artists, and on the Wednesday, The Opening opens four stages to 5-day pass holders.
In 2026 the official bill listed 209 names, from Damso, Orelsan, Interpol and Sean Paul to Amelie Lens (AURA AV show), Chris Stussy, Mau P, Honey Dijon, Blawan and Pendulum live. The Opening on 15 July featured face-to-face sets from the 240KM/H collective, including Boys Noize and SPFDJ. The 2027 line-up has not been announced.

Getting there
In 2026: train to Quiévrain station with the discounted SNCB Event Train Ticket (code supplied with the festival ticket), then a free shuttle to the site and campsites. Ontours coaches from Lille and Paris, Event-Shuttle buses on Friday and Saturday from six Belgian towns. By car, a parking ticket bought in advance is required.
Camping
Campsites open from Wednesday noon to Monday noon and are paid on top of the pass: Regular Camping (€53 in 2026, paid showers), themed campsites Dour les Bains, Green, Comfort, Cozy and The Ranch, ready-pitched lodging at The Village, chalets, and Dour Camper Van for campervans.
Tickets
In 2026, at Main Drop prices: €80 for a day, €145 for the weekend, €240 for the 5-day pass (including The Opening), €320 for VIP. « Festival & Camping » bundles combine pass and camping. Resale only through the official platform, never above face value.
Age
No minimum age. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and no alcohol is sold or given to under-16s.
Paying on site
The festival is fully cashless: you pay with the chip wristband, topped up online, in the Dour app or at top-up points. Unspent credit is refunded after the festival on request, with a €3.50 fee.
Rules
Alcohol, glass, cans, plastic bottles and cool boxes are banned from the concert site; barbecues, stoves and gas bottles from the campsites. Zero tolerance on drugs. The « You're Safe Here » scheme (orange armbands) handles harassment, and a Red Cross post is open 24/7.
